About SouthDrill

SouthDrill Limited is an established drilling and piling company within the HWR Group of Companies, with a strong association with SouthRoads, and a well-established history starting in Southland. SouthDrill now operates throughout the South Island, mostly in Southland, Otago, Canterbury and the West Coast.

SouthDrill are Southland locals and water exploration and piling experts.

Specialising in the development and maintenance of irrigation, SouthDrill are Certified Drillers with the New Zealand Drillers Federation and Ecan approved. If you need a water bore or well drilled, the SouthDrill team offers sound knowledge and advice, we doubt you’ll find a more experienced team. Most of the SouthDrill team has decades of experience under their belt. SouthDrill drills water bores for commercial, domestic and rural customers.

We also drill for construction piling and geotechnical operating throughout the South Island. When it comes to piling, we have a Caldweld 250B Piling Rig, specifically designed for the construction of bored piles from 450mm – 2.4 diameters. It’s used for the construction of bridge piles, power pylon foundations and building foundations down to a depth of 30m, with a greater depth achieved where required.

SouthDrill support our clients in their application for resource consent

SouthDrill are members of SiteSafe and along with piling and drilling, are specialist in geotechnical drilling, water bore maintenance, offal pits and soak holes. We can also help with water quality testing and resource consent flow testing. Customers come to us across the South Island as we support our clients in their application for resource consent for new or existing bores across the regions, including on-site meetings and documentation.

When it comes to water bore maintenance, we recommend removing the pump and flushing the bore twice a year, with critical use or sole use bores maintained yearly in the off-season. We can help with redevelopment, pump extraction and replacement, flow testing, and compliance.
